Michael McIlorum loses ban appeal

Wigan Warriors hooker Michael McIlorum loses his appeal to have a three-match ban overturned following his red card against St Helens.

Wigan Warriors hooker Michael McIlorum has lost his appeal to have a three-match ban overturned.

The 24-year-old was sent off and given a £300 fine for a high and late tackle during his side's derby defeat to St Helens on Friday.

The suspension could mean that McIlorum's season has come to a premature end.

McIlorum's only chance of playing in the Super League Grand Final would be if his side loses to Catalan Dragons in their qualifying playoff on Friday. A defeat there would mean that they would have to play two further matches before the showpiece event.
