Australia have adjusted their policy on selecting overseas-based players to open the door for the likes of Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell ahead of the 2015 World Cup, where they will face both England and Wales.
Coach Michael Cheika could only previously pick from those who plied their trade at home, but several players confirming upcoming moves abroad has prompted a change.
Now players who have 60 or more international caps to their name and have represented an Australian Super Rugby team for at least seven years are allowed to be considered.
"This is a pivotal moment for rugby in Australia," chief executive Bill Pulver told reporters.
Giteau, who plays for French club Toulon alongside Mitchell, added on Twitter: "Massive news re. @QantasWallabies policy change..The ultimate honour to represent your country however form still must warrant selection."
Fly-half or centre Giteau and winger or full-back Mitchell, both 32, have 92 and 63 caps respectively for the Wallabies.
