Numerous reports this afternoon have claimed that Sam Burgess has left Bath with immediate effect.
The 26-year-old signed a three-year deal at the Recreation Ground 12 months ago following his switch from rugby league outfit South Sydney Rabbitohs.
After England's early exit from the Rugby World Cup, speculation had claimed that Burgess was keen to return to the Rabbitohs, who have his three brothers on their books.
However, when asked about those rumours on Tuesday, Bath head coach Mike Ford stressed that he expected the centre to remain with the club for the remainder of his contract.
Despite no official confirmation having been made, it is believed that his terms with the one-time Heineken Cup winners have been cancelled, with a return to the Rabbitohs expected to be announced shortly.
During his first stint at the ANZ Stadium, Burgess ran in 26 tries in 95 appearances.
