Samoa knock England out of rugby sevens

England are out of the rugby sevens after losing 15-14 to Samoa in the quarter-finals at the Commonwealth Games.

England have been knocked out of the rugby sevens competition at the Commonwealth Games following a 15-14 defeat to Samoa in the quarter-finals this afternoon.

The Sevens World Championship runners up took an early lead through a Marcus Watson try.

However, James Rodwell was sent to the sin bin in the third quarter, allowing Samoa to get a try of their own and take the lead with just a couple of minutes to go.

Dan Norton had a chance to score late on for England, but Samoa defended well to prevent him getting across the line and secure their progress to the semi-finals.
