Head coach Eddie Jones has confirmed that Tom Curry has been handed the England captaincy for Saturday's Six Nations opener against Scotland.
Curry steps into the role with Owen Farrell missing out through an ankle injury and Courtney Lawes being absent through concussion.
In what Jones describes as a "good, young team", Sam Simmonds, Marcus Smith, Joe Marchant and Nick Isiekwe are also named in the team.
Jones said: "We have a good, young team but we understand the task ahead and we'll be ready to go after it from the first kick. Tom Curry will captain the side for this game and has the respect of the team around him.
"We have prepared really well for this game. We've had a number of obstacles thrown at us, but we've overcome them as a more together group and we're looking forward to getting started."
The game at Murrayfield will take place after Ireland have played host to Wales, while France and Italy square off in Paris on Sunday.
