Rob Baxter laments "missed opportunity" for Exeter Chiefs

Rob Baxter feels that Exeter Chief could have been awarded a try during their defeat to London Wasps on Sunday.

Rob Baxter has bemoaned a "missed opportunity" for Exeter Chiefs after their last-gasp defeat at London Wasps on Sunday.

Andy Goode kicked a decisive drop goal in the dying seconds of the match to snatch Wasps a 19-16 victory in the Aviva Premiership at Adams Park, in a game that saw 20-year-old fly-half Henry Slade denied what looked to be a clean try by the TMO.

"I'm going to need to see what was reviewed again," Baxter told the media. "The quality of what's shown on the big screen is not the same as what the TMO sees.

"I think it was important Sladey got the full 80 minutes on his full debut. In hindsight we'll look back on a missed opportunity. But it was always going to be a game full of momentum shifts, and those are the games it's important for him to experience. So that's why we left him out there, and I think he came through it really well."

Chiefs host Glasgow Warriors on Saturday in their next game in the Heineken Cup.
