The IRB have backed referee David Pearson's decision to call off Saturday's Six Nations clash between France and Ireland at the Stade de France.
The match was called off minutes before kick-off after the pitch had earlier passed two inspections.
"We support Dave Pearson over the decision he made in deeming the Stade de France pitch to be unplayable," the IRB said in a statement.
"Player welfare and safety is the primary concern for the IRB and its match officials. Following consultation with both coaches and championship organisers, Pearson deemed the pitch unplayable on player welfare grounds."
The fixture is due to be resheduled for either the weekend of February 18 and 19 or that of March 3 and 4.
