A decision regarding London Welsh's appeal over their recent punishment from the Rugby Football Union has been deferred until Friday.

The club was given a five-point deduction with another five points suspended and a £15,000 fine earlier this month after they were found guilty of fielding an ineligible player for 10 Aviva Premiership games this season.

Former team manager Mike Scott has also been banned for life for providing false documents to the RFU claiming that New Zealander Tyson Keats was from England.

"London Welsh's appeal against this month's Panel of Inquiry's decision in respect of a breach of Premiership Regulations has been heard," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The panel of Gareth Rees QC, Jim Sturman QC and Philip Evans will now consider their decision which will be communicated in due course."

London Welsh's initial five-point deduction has seen the team slip into the relegation zone in the Aviva Premiership table.
