Julian Savea hails "special" quarter-final victory over France

New Zealand wing Julian Savea tells Sports Mole that he felt 'privileged' to play a key role in the Kiwis' quarter-final win over France.

Julian Savea has reflected on New Zealand's thrashing of France in the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup with huge pride.

The wing crossed over three times for the reigning world champions as they dismantled Les Bleus 62-13 in Cardiff on Saturday night.

Having equalled past records set by Bryan Habana and Jonah Lomu for tries scored at the showpiece competition for the All Blacks, Savea was struggling to take it all in post match.

"It's awesome to be here and to be a part of this occasion," he told Sports Mole. "Being a part of this quarter-final is a huge privilege and honour for me and my family.

"Just to be a part of this team in this environment, I can't say how special it is to me."

Savea's opening score took New Zealand to the 300-try mark at the World Cup - over 100 more than any other side.
