Gloucester Rugby come from behind to beat Newcastle Falcons

Gloucester overturn a 17-point deficit to beat Newcastle Falcons 42-40 in the Aviva Premiership.

Gloucester Rugby came from 17 points down in the final 15 minutes to secure a 42-40 victory over Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

Mark Wilson scored two first-half tries to put the visitors in control heading into the break, with Sinoti Sinoti also finding the line for Newcastle.

However, Billy Burns kicked a pair of penalties, while Billy Twelvetrees powered over for a try, to keep Gloucester in contention heading into the second half.

Newcastle extended their lead to 33-16 with 65 minutes played, but Dan Robson triggered a Gloucester resurgence as he, Twelvetrees and Henry Purdy all added tries in the space of seven minutes.

It looked as though their comeback was going to fall just short until Burns squeezed across the line in the final minutes of the match, giving Gloucester the lead for the first time with just seconds remaining.

The result keep Gloucester ninth in the table, two places above Newcastle.
