Jacques Burger cited for alleged foul play

Saracens flanker Jacques Burger is cited for alleged foul play following an incident in Sunday's European Champions Cup win over Racing Metro.

Saracens flanker Jacques Burger has been cited for alleged foul play following an incident in Sunday's European Champions Cup quarter-final against Racing Metro.

Burger is alleged to have hit Racing scrum-half Maxime Machenaud during the close encounter at Stade Yves-du-Manoir, which Saracens eventually won 12-11.

The 31-year-old will face a disciplinary hearing on Thursday regarding the incident, which carries a minimum punishment of a two-week ban if he is found guilty.

That would be a blow to Sarries, who face Premiership playoff rivals Leicester Tigers on Saturday before their European semi-final against Clermont Auvergne a week later.

Saracens, who have already won the LV= Cup this season, are currently second in the Premiership, just two points clear of fourth-placed Leicester and 10 adrift of leaders Northampton Saints.
