Saracens win clash between top two

Saracens hold on to secure a 28-24 win over Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership.

Saracens have extended their lead at the top of the Aviva Premiership table with a 28-24 win over second-placed Northampton Saints this afternoon.

David Strettle helped the hosts take the lead inside the opening 10 minutes with the first try of the afternoon, while Kelly Brown also crossed the whitewash in the opening 40 minutes.

However, Northampton were awarded a penalty try after getting the better of the league leaders in the scrum to keep themselves in contention at the break.

Marcelo Bosch forced his way over in the corner to increase Saracens' lead after the break.

Saints were down 18 points heading into the final 10 minutes, but Luther Burrell and George North gave them some late hope, cutting the lead to just four points, but they were unable to find another try in the closing moments of the match to steal the win.
