Cameron Brodie keen to emulate Ross Murdoch, Daniel Wallace

Cameron Brodie says that he is determined to join Ross Murdoch and Daniel Wallace by swimming his way to a gold medal for Scotland.

Scotland's Cameron Brodie has expressed an ambition to join compatriots Daniel Wallace and Ross Murdoch in swimming his way to a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.

Brodie recorded a personal best time of 1:57:28 to beat Olympic gold medallist Chad le Clos and qualify for tonight's 200m butterfly final.

Wallace and Murdoch have set the bar high for Scottish swimmers at the Games by claiming gold on home soil, and Brodie will not be happy unless he emulates his countrymen as Commonwealth champions.

"Easy! I was looking across thinking, 'Where are you guys?' I cannot wait for the final," he told BBC Sport.

"A silver or a bronze is not good enough now, Daniel Wallace and Ross Murdoch have been in there and got gold, I want to be part of that group so let's see what I can do tonight."

England's Roberto Pavoni also qualified for tonight's final, which is scheduled to begin at 7.07pm.
