Stuart Hogg to face disciplinary hearing

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg will face a disciplinary hearing regarding his red card in the 51-3 Six Nations defeat to Wales on Saturday.

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg will face a disciplinary hearing regarding the red card he received during his side's Six Nations match with Wales on Saturday.

Hogg was given his marching orders for a late shoulder-led tackle on Wales fly-half Dan Biggar after just 22 minutes of the eventual 51-3 thrashing.

Referee Jerome Garces originally gave Hogg a yellow card for the hit, but changed the punishment to a red having viewed the incident on the big screens inside the Millenium Stadium.

The 21-year-old Glasgow Warriors player later apologised for his tackle, which forced Scotland to play with 14 men for almost an hour as they fell to their heaviest ever defeat at the hands of Wales.

"The disciplinary hearing for Stuart Hogg, the Scotland full-back, who was dismissed with a red card during the RBS 6 Nations match between Wales and Scotland on Saturday, will be held on Wednesday 19 March 2014 in London," read a statement from the tournament's organisers.

Hogg is just the third Scotland player to be sent off in a Test match, following Nathan Hines in 2002 and Scott Murray in 2006.
