England's Mike Gilligan has admitted that his performance was not good enough as he crashed out of the men's skeet shooting event.
The Derby-based shooter failed to progress from the qualification stage after registering a score of 112 to leave him in 14th place.
"I'm quite disappointed because I haven't shot well in this competition at all," Gillian told reporters at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre. "Whether the nerves got on top of me or it was something else, I'm not sure. My overall performance was not good so I feel disappointed even if I will learn from it and next time be better."
On the experience of competing at the Commonwealth Games, he added: "This is my first multi-sport event, I did go to Australia for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, but nothing on this scale before. It's been a good experience and I'm only going to learn from it in the future.
"I've learnt how to get used to the environment – I've never shot in front of crowds this large so that's been quite new for me. I think it got on top of me a little bit with all these people watching us shoot."
Fellow Team England shooter Rory Warlow advanced from the qualifiers to seal a place in this afternoon's semi-finals.
