Hossein Vafaei makes history at the Snooker Shoot Out, becoming the first Iranian player to win a snooker ranking event.
The world number 42, who was without a semi-final appearance since the 2019-20 campaign, was outstanding during the latter stages on Sunday, ultimately setting up a final against Mark Williams.
The Welshman, a three-time world champion, was the favourite to prevail in the final 10-minute frame of a pulsating event, particularly having defeated Robbie Williams 124-1 in the last four.
However, the veteran was on the receiving end of a dominant frame in the final, Vafaei cruising to a 71-0 triumph to crown the greatest night of his career.
Williams's solitary shot in the final was the break, his 27-year-old opponent potting a long red before compiling a lead which could not be beaten.
