Veteran Jimmy White moved a step closer to reaching the World Snooker Championships by winning his first qualifier against Tian Pengfei yesterday afternoon.
Having lost the first session 5-4, 50-year-old White eventually won through 10-7 to book his place in the second qualifying round against China's Xiao Guodong.
Should White win that encounter, he will then have to overcome Robert Milkins to reach the main event in Sheffield.
White has finished runner-up at the tournament on six occasions.
