Australia's Mitch Larkin takes double World gold by winning 200m backstroke

Australia's Mitch Larkin wins his second gold medal of the World Championships by storming to victory in the 200m backstroke final.

Australia's Mitch Larkin has earned a second gold medal at the World Championships in Kazan by winning the 200m backstroke final today.

The 22-year-old, who won gold in the 100m backstroke final earlier this week, put himself in a strong position by turning second at the halfway point.

Japan's Irie Ryosuke held the lead for the first 150m, but Larkin stroked ahead of the pack to take a commanding advantage before touching the wall in 1:53.58.

Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland claimed silver, while Russia's Evgeny Rylov snatched bronze.
