Team England swimmer Liam Tancock has admitted that he was just pleased to make the Commonwealth Games following a lengthy stint with a hip injury.
The 29-year-old, who is one of Great Britain's most successful swimmers, picked up bronze in tonight's 100m backstroke final.
Tancock, who shared the podium with gold medallist Chris Walker-Hebborn, only returned to action in January following almost a year on the sidelines with injury.
"It was really nice to get on the podium," Tancock told reporters after collecting his medal. "It's been a tough couple of years for me, so to be on their with Chris, who did a fantastic job to get the Commonwealth record [was great].
"For me, to get out there after a tough couple of years, just to make the team is pretty special. I think I pretty much dug in deep and gave it all I could and to come away with bronze is fantastic."
Australia's Mitch Larkin won silver.
