British Swimming head coach Bill Furniss has expressed his belief that Adam Peaty is destined for greatness following a "standout year".
The 19-year-old is one of five nominated, including Ross Murdoch, Fran Halsall, Siobhan Marie O'Connor and Jazz Carlin, for British Swimming's Athlete of the Year award.
Overall, Peaty clinched three medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and four at the European Championships in Berlin, where he also set a new world record in 50m breaststroke.
"Adam has had a real standout year," The Sentinel quotes Furniss as saying. "His age and his rate of improvement have been really exciting too, and I believe he and his coach Mel Marshall have done a great job to achieve what they have.
"Adam's performances and attitude are world class, and his desire to improve is always evident."
The winner of the award will be decided by public vote on December 16.
