Polina Egorova wins gold in women's 100m backstroke

Polina Egorova heads a Russian Federation one-two in the women's 100m backstroke final at the European Games.

Polina Egorova has claimed her fifth gold medal of the European Games by winning the women's 100m backstroke final.

The Russian Federation teenager has been a revelation in Baku, but she had to work hard to secure first place in a highly-competitive race.

Egorova won gold by just 0.04 seconds from compatriot Mariia Kameneva, while France's Pauline Mahieu finished narrowly behind in third position.

Victory for Egorova has secured Russia their 71st gold medal of the Games.
