Great Britain's Thomas Fannon misses out in 50m freestyle semi-finals

Great Britain's Thomas Fannon won't feature in the final of the 50m freestyle after finishing fifth in his semi-final race.

Great Britain's Thomas Fannon has failed to qualify for the 50m freestyle final at the European Games.

Fannon was the sole Team GB representative to progress through to the semi-finals, but the 16-year-old agonisingly missed out on a chance to race for a medal.

The teenager finished in fifth place in his heat with a time of 23.23s, 0.23 seconds behind the fourth spot which would have earned him a place in the final.

Israel's Ziv Kalontarov recorded the fastest time of the 16 remaining competitors with a time of 22.61s.
