Team GB have qualified for the final of the women's 4x100m medley relay at London 2012.

Led off by Gemma Spofforth, the home team struggled to keep up with blistering swims from the Australians and the Japanese, but came in fifth in their heat ahead of Sweden.

Amy Smith powered to a strong freestyle finish to clock up a time of 3:59.37 for an overall sixth placing.

The Australians were the fastest qualifiers, setting the pace from the off with a strong start from Emily Seebohm and coming in with a significant lead at 3:55.42.

The women's 4x100m medley relay takes place at the Aquatics Centre tomorrow evening.
