Great Britain clinch eight medals in short course world championships

Great Britain's swimmers clinch seven silver medals and one bronze in the world short-course championships in Doha.

Great Britain have come away with eight medals at the FINA World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Double Commonwealth gold medallist Adam Peaty, who set a new British record in the 100m breaststroke, contributed with three silver medals, while Siobhan-Marie O'Connor also nabbed three silvers of her own.

The team failed to grab a gold between them, but Jazz Carlin, Fran Halsall, Chris Walker-Hebborn and James Guy all clinched silvers, while Hannah Miley secured bronze in the 400m individual medley.

"We've had 18 British records," BBC Sport quotes British Swimming head coach Bill Furniss as saying. "What pleases me is the percentage of athletes that have moved it on from the heats in the finals. It's around 90% so I am delighted with it."

In total, 23 world records were set in Doha.
