Australia's Bronte Campbell claims 50m freestyle gold

Australia's Bronte Campbell wins the 50m freestyle final at the World Swimming Championships as Great Britain's Fran Halsall finishes eighth.

100m freestyle champion Bronte Campbell has won her second individual title of the World Swimming Championships with victory in the 50m freestyle final.

The Australian edged out defending champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands by 0.1 seconds with a race-winning time of 24.12 in the Kazan Arena.

Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom, who has two golds from the butterfly events at this meeting, claimed the bronze, preventing fourth-placed Cate Campbell from joining her sister on the podium.

Great Britain's Fran Halsall, who won the bronze medal two years ago, finished seventh, less than 0.4 seconds behind the gold-medal winner.
