Great Britain's James Guy finishes in fourth place in men's 200m freestyle

Great Britain's James Guy finishes in fourth place as Sun Yang claims gold in the men's 200m freestyle at the Olympic Games.

Great Britain's James Guy has narrowly missed out on claiming a medal in the men's 200m freestyle at the Olympic Games.

In an enthralling race, Guy reached the halfway stage in third place but he was edged out into fourth as Sun Yang finished strongly to win gold.

South Africa's Chad le Clos made all of the early running and headed the field by over a second after 50 metres but he was eventually clawed back by Sun and American Conor Dwyer.

Guy was always in contention in the outside lane but he was the man to miss out as Sun closed out the race impressively to finish over half a second clear of the field.

Just three hundredths of a second separated Le Clos and Dwyer in second and third respectively as Guy ended the race a quarter of a second outside of the medal positions.
