Adam Peaty, Ross Murdoch reach 100m breaststroke final

Great Britain's Adam Peaty broke the World Swimming Championships record for the men's 100m breaststroke as he posted the fastest time in the semi-finals in Kazan this evening.

The Commonwealth and European champion raced to victory in a time of 58.18 in the second semi-final, beating the record that South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh had set in the first semi-final just a few minutes earlier.

Ross Murdoch came fourth in his race with a time of 59.75, which was good enough for seventh overall and a spot in tomorrow's final.

Peaty was just 0.2 seconds off his own world record, which he set in London in April.
