Team GB's Kelly Sibley praises "excellent" table tennis venue

Team GB's Kelly Sibley says that the venue for the table tennis competition at the European Games is "excellent".

Team GB's Kelly Sibley has said that the Baku Sports Hall is an "excellent" venue for table tennis following her first-round defeat at the European Games.

The 27-year-old lost 4-2 to Ruta Paskauskiene of Lithuania earlier today, losing four games in a row after making a strong start to the match.

Sibley told reporters: "For table tennis to be in a multi-sport games is really important because the sport doesn't always get much publicity. Our competitions in Britain aren't very high profile. And the conditions here in the hall are just excellent.

"I knew I had to make a quick start because she's one of those players that, as soon as she gets her groove, she's hard to break down. She was seeing the ball like a football today."

Sibley won bronze in the mixed doubles for England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow alongside Danny Reed last year.
