Joel Gonzalez Bonilla has been crowned Spain's first ever Olympic champion in taekwondo thanks to a win over Lee Daehoon of South Korea in the flyweight category.
In a frantic opening round at the ExCel Arena the Spaniard came out a 5-2 winner thanks to an early head shot.
Daehoon fought back in the second, but a late rally from Bonilla made the score 8-4 in his favour going into the final round.
Gonzalez Bonilla then landed another thunderous headshot to knock his opponent down in the third as he saw out the contest 17-8.
Colombia's Oscar Munoz and Alexey Denisenko of Russia each won bronze medals in the previous bouts.
