British number one Cameron Norrie wins his fifth ATP Tour title at the Rio Open courtesy of a three-set win over US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz.

British number one Cameron Norrie stunned world number two Carlos Alcaraz in three sets to win the Rio Open title on Sunday.

The two men locked horns a week on from Alcaraz's win over Norrie in the final of the Argentina Open, but the Brit fought back from a set and a break down on the clay to glean revenge over the US Open champion.

Norrie took two hours and 41 minutes to win 5-7 6-4 7-5 and clinch his fifth top-level title - ending a run of three successive defeats in ATP Tour finals in the process.

Having been broken in the 12th game of the first set before falling 3-0 down in the second, back-to-back defeats were seemingly on the cards for Norrie against Alcaraz.

However, as the Spaniard - who missed the Australian Open through injury - began to struggle with physical problems, Norrie took full advantage with a four-game winning streak in the second set before Alcaraz broke back once again for 4-4.

The 19-year-old's late efforts were futile as Norrie forced a third set, but the Brit would be forced to do it the hard way again, as Alcaraz earned the first break of the decider for a 2-0 lead.

Norrie quickly broke back before the two players traded another pair of breaks, but Alcaraz's apparent leg problem would prove telling, as the world number two went 6-5 down on serve despite remarkably fighting back from 40-0 down.

One final ace down the T would clinch an emotional win for Norrie, who won his first ATP title since the Lyon Open back in May.
