Kim Clijsters preparing for Australian Open defence

Kim Clijsters is happy with her preparation for an attempt to regain the Australian Open title.

Kim Clijsters has revealed that she is beginning to regain her rhythm ahead of her Australian Open defence later this month.

The former world number one was speaking after her round one victory over Romania's Simona Halep at the Brisbane International earlier today.

"For a first match this was pretty good," said the 28-year-old. "In the second set there were a few little errors that I need to focus on in my next match.

"But overall I had a good feeling, I felt that I was playing aggressively, so I was pretty happy with that.

"It's important for me to get back into that kind of match rhythm. I think it's difficult to get into that rhythm of playing matches a couple of days in a row."

Clijsters is currently 13th in the world rankings.
