Andy Murray impressed by Yuki Bhambri display

Sixth seed Andy Murray admits that he was impressed with the display of Indian qualifier Yuki Bhambri in their first-round contest at the Australian Open.

Andy Murray has praised the performance of Indian qualifier Yuki Bhambri after he forced the Scot to work hard before he sealed his place in the Australian Open second round.

The sixth seed was broken in each set during his 6-3 6-4 7-6 triumph over the world number 314, and the two-time major winner admitted that he was impressed with the display of the lowest-ranked player in the main draw.

The 27-year-old said: "He made it very difficult, played very aggressive and came to the net. He's a very talented player.

"I've never hit or played against him before so that made it tricky. He had quite a bad injury last year where he missed five or six months so he should be ranked much higher."

Murray will play Australia's Marinko Matosevic in the last 64 on Wednesday.
