Belgium's Kim Clijsters has made it through to the second round of the women's Olympic singles with a straight-sets victory over Italy's Roberta Vinci at Wimbledon.
Clijsters, who was making her first appearance at the Games, made short work of her opponent in the first set as she broke serve twice to take it 6-1.
Vinci cancelled out an early break in the second but was broken again by the four-time Grand Slam winner, who closed out the match 6-4.
Clijsters will now meet Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro in the next round following her win over Australian fifth seed Samantha Stosur.
