Kyle Edmund has earned a place in the second round of the Cincinnati Open with victory over MacKenzie McDonald.
The British number one has endured a frustrating period since losing in the third round of Wimbledon, but the 23-year-old registered his first win since SW19 by easing to a 6-3 6-2 triumph over McDonald.
Edmund was dominant throughout the contest, with just one point being dropped on his serve during the opening set, and that dominance continued during the second as McDonald failed to cope with his opponent's first delivery.
The 14th seed recorded a total of three breaks of serve throughout the 65-minute encounter, and Frances Tiafoe or Denis Shapovalov awaits him in the next round.
Andy Murray plays his first match on Monday with Lucas Pouille standing in his way, while Johanna Konta will face Aryna Sabalenka.
