Novak Djokovic: 'French Open win one of most special moments of my career'

French Open winner Novak Djokovic describes his maiden Roland Garros title, and first win in the final in four attempts, as 'one of the most special moments of his career'.

French Open winner Novak Djokovic has described his maiden Roland Garros title as 'one of the most special moments of his career'.

The 29-year-old Serb beat Andy Murray 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-4 on Court Philippe Chatrier to clinch the one trophy that had so far eluded him, as well as completing a non-calendar year Grand Slam.

Djokovic told the crowd after the match: "I want to start off by saying congratulations to Andy for a great tournament, and it was a great pleasure to share these special moments with you.

"I'm sure we will see you with the big trophies very soon. My family, my team, my loves, thank you so much for tolerating everything on a daily basis.

"It's one of the most special moments of my career and I want to thank everyone here for their support - thank you from my heart, and I hope to see you next year."

In winning the French Open, Djokovic also avoided becoming the first man to lose his first four finals in the tournament.
