David Ferrer is into the third round of the French Open after a comfortable straight-sets win over Benoit Paire.

David Ferrer will continue his fight for the French Open title after overcoming Benoit Paire 6-3 6-3 6-2 to reach the third round of the tournament.

The Spaniard took hold of the clash in the early stages of the opening set and managed to hold his serve well while also clinching the first break of the match in order to take a vital advantage.

While Paire showed some encouraging signs across the court, it was Ferrer who edged the match and set the pace for the game by snatching the first set 6-3.

The number six seed continued his dominance in the second set, while his French opponent could not force through a crucial fightback to draw level as Ferrer took a two-set lead in Paris.

The third set was a breeze yet again for the Spaniard, who managed to book his place in the next round of the tournament with a 6-2 win.
