Novak Djokovic marches on at Indian Wells

World number one Novak Djokovic overcomes Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets to reach the fourth round at Indian Wells in California.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic has booked his place in the fourth round at Indian Wells thanks to a 7-5 7-5 victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Having wrapped up the first set in 47 minutes, it appeared that the Serb was on course for a routine win when he broke to open up a 4-2 lead in the second set.

He then had four match points in the ninth game, but the world number one failed to convert any of them and Kohlschreiber eventually broke back to keep his hopes of a comeback alive.

However, Djokovic ensured that a deciding third set would not be required as he broke his German opponent when 6-5 in front to advance into the last 16.

The 28-year-old, who has won the competition four times, will now take on Feliciano Lopez for a spot in the quarter-finals.
