David Ferrer believes that fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal will be better than ever when he returns from injury.
The world number two hasn't picked up a racquet since limping out of Wimbledon three months ago and is unsure of when he will return as he receives treatment on a torn tendon.
Ferrer feels that Roger Federer is currently the best in the world but is adamant that Nadal can surpass the Swiss and once again become world number one.
"At this moment, Federer is the best player in the world but Nadal can possibly break his record as he is still young," said Ferrer.
Reports have suggested that Nadal could be back in action in November but Ferrer thinks that the 26-year-old would benefit from some time away from the busy tennis schedule.
"I too am tired as I played a lot of matches," added Ferrer. "I had a one-week break before coming here and will then go to China, where I will play in Beijing and Shanghai."
Ferrer is currently ranked as the world number five.
