Rafael Nadal has admitted that he is unsure whether he has returned to full fitness following his lengthy injury layoff.
The Spaniard, who is currently taking part in the Madrid Open, insisted that simply playing competitive tennis is the most important thing at this stage.
"I am taking things day by day and I don't know if I am in perfect shape or not," he told Spanish broadcaster La Sexta.
"The important thing is that I am here in Madrid competing again after seven months out injured."
Nadal booked his place in the third round of the Madrid Open with a 6-3 6-4 win over Benoit Paire.
