Fourteen-time Grand Slam champion Pete Sampras has doubted the chances of his native USA once again dominating men's tennis in the near future.
No American man has won a Grand Slam title since Andy Roddick triumphed over Juan Carlos Ferrero at Flushing Meadows in 2003.
At present, there are just five males in the top 100 and with that in mind, Sampras has conceded that it is highly unlikely that there will be an American resurgence anytime soon.
"Unfortunately it looks on the slim side. I don't see anyone. I don't really know anyone that even people are talking about to break through even into the top 10," he told BBC Sport.
Seven of Sampras's major titles were won at Wimbledon, with a further five being achieved at the US Open.
