Janko Tipsarevic proved too strong for Igor Sijsling to move into the third round of the Paris Masters.
Dutchman Sijsling had impressed on Tuesday with a win over Alexandr Dolgopolov but he was unable to repeat that performance against his Serbian opponent as he fell to a 6-4 7-6 defeat.
Sijsling created more break points than Tipsarevic in the opening set but he was unable to convert and that allowed the world number nine to take a one-set lead.
Tipsarevic improved his level of performance in the second, allowing Sijsling no opportunities on his serve to earn himself a chance to serve for the match, but Sijsling surprised Tipsarevic to take the set to 5-5.
However, after the set moved to 6-6, Tipsarevic dominated the tie-break that followed to take it 7-0 and move into the last 16.
