Tomas Berdych eases past Andreas Seppi in Rotterdam

Tomas Berdych cruises into the second round of the Rotterdam Open courtesy of a 6-3 6-3 victory over Andreas Seppi.

Tomas Berdych has safely made it through to the second round of the Rotterdam Open with a straight-sets 6-3 6-3 victory over Andreas Seppi.

Berdych made a perfect start to the match when he held his opening service game before breaking Seppi at the first time of asking, taking advantage of the second of two break points to race into an early lead.

The Czech almost broke again in the eighth game, but Seppi saved two break points to hold serve. It was only a temporary reprieve, however, as Berdych wrapped up a 6-3 set in the very next game.

The world number seven broke early again in the second set before holding his own serve to move into a commanding position in the contest.

He eventually sealed the victory with another break in a mammoth ninth game that saw Seppi fight back from two match points before eventually succumbing to the defeat.
