Kyle Edmund has earned a place in the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open with victory over Leonardo Mayer.
The British number one is looking to put together some form ahead of the US Open, with just one win being registered since reaching the third round at Wimbledon.
However, the 23-year-old showed that he was not lacking confidence as he put together a near-faultness performance in registering a 6-3 6-3 triumph over the experienced Argentine.
Edmund broke serve on three occasions, while conceding just 10 points on his own delivery throughout the contest, and the success sets up a showdown with Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena.
There was disappointment for Johanna Konta in New Haven, however, as the world number 46 was forced to withdraw from the tournament through a viral illness.
