Johanna Konta has progressed through to her first final on the WTA Tour after she beat Dominika Cibulkova at the Bank of the West Classic.
A year ago, Konta was playing the majority of her tennis at the second tier of the women's game, but the 25-year-old's 6-4 6-2 victory over Cibulkova has left her closer to securing a place in the world's top 10.
The British number one was the marginal outsider to come through their last-four clash in Stanford but she produced one of the best performances of her career against the world number 12 as she broke three times during the 74-minute contest.
Konta also held each of her nine service games as she powered to victory over the Slovakian, which sets up a showdown with Venus Williams.
Regardless of the result on Sunday, Konta is projected to reach a career high of 14 in the world rankings on Monday.
