Ekaterina Makarova has powered through to the third round of the Miami Open after dispatching of Karin Knapp 6-1 6-3 this afternoon.
The Russian 26-year-old was superior from the off, relinquishing only the second game as she coasted to the first set within less than half an hour.
Knapp put up more of a fight in the second set, breaking serve and pulling her opponent to 2-2 and then 3-3.
Nevertheless Makarova was able to power on against her Italian rival and ultimately coast to the set and the match in a total of 76 minutes.
