Rafael Nadal has resumed his dominance of compatriot Nicolas Almagro with a thumping 6-4 6-1 victory at the Miami Masters.
The world number three cruised into the third round in an hour-and-a-half as he recorded an 11th win in 12 encounters against his fellow Spaniard.
Almagro's only victory over Nadal came in their most recent meeting in Barcelona last year, but he was behind within three games this evening as the 14-time major champion recorded the only break of an otherwise tight first set.
Nadal had to save three break points as he served out for the opener, but his superiority was more evident in the second set as he recorded successive breaks to storm into a 5-1 lead on the road to victory.
Last year's beaten finalist, who has never won this tournament, could face another countryman in the next round as Fernando Verdasco potentially awaits.
