Roger Federer claims 1,000th ATP Tour win with triumph at Brisbane International

Roger Federer records his 1,000th ATP Tour victory by winning the Brisbane International title at the expense of Milos Raonic.

Roger Federer secured his 1,000th ATP Tour victory in the final of the Brisbane International this morning.

Up against Canada's Milos Raonic, Federer claimed the opening set 6-4 in just 32 minutes.

However, Raonic responded by winning the next set 7-2 in a tie-break, only for Federer to win the decider 6-4.

Speaking briefly on court after his win, Federer told the crowd: "I'll never forget this moment."

Former world number one Federer has now become just the third man after Jimmy Connors [1,253] and Ivan Lendl [1,071] to reach the four-figure landmark.
