British number one Robson took the opening set 7-5 before Ivanovic fought back to claim the second 6-2.

Robson earned herself a 5-2 lead in the third, but the teenager was unable to close out the contest as Ivanovic fought back to force the tie-break, which she won 7-5.

The Serbian will now meet sixth seed Angelique Kerber for a place in the quarter-finals.
