Johanna Konta has missed out on securing a place in the top 10 of the world rankings after falling to defeat to Kristina Kucova at the Rogers Cup.
The 25-year-old had been looking to become the first British female player to achieve the milestone in 32 years but she bowed out at the quarter-final stage to qualifier Kucova.
The world number 121 had defeated crowd favourite Eugenie Bouchard in the previous round and she again excelled on the main showcourt in Montreal as she broke serve three times to register a 6-4 6-3 win.
It ended a stellar run for Konta who had won her first WTA title last weekend but despite the defeat, she will move up to a career-high ranking of 13 on Monday.
