Agnieszka Radwanska eases past Julia Goerges in Rogers Cup

Agnieszka Radwanska continues the defence of her Rogers Cup title with a 7-5 6-3 triumph over Julia Goerges.

Defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska has continued the defence of her Rogers Cup title by beating Julia Goerges 7-5 6-3 in their second-round clash.

In a below-par start to the match for Radwanska, a third break point was accepted by Goerges in the third game but the sixth seed broke back midway through the opener to get back on level terms.

Radwanska quickly improved on serve and started to dominate the longer rallies, before securing the set when her German opponent gifted her the break in the 12th game.

Despite falling behind, Goerges had chances to put the pressure back on the champion but wasted three break points early in the second set.

Radwanska needed just one break of serve to pull clear and she wrapped up the win comfortably to set up a meeting with Alize Cornet.
